In Bloom

Knowing the truth that resides in our own hearts is like tuning into our internal navigational systems. Identifying these truths for ourselves is akin to picking the ripe fruit of the tree of our personal knowledge. A combined knowledge not only of the intellect of our minds, but rather, the intellect of our minds coupled with the wealth stream of our emotions and fused together in the space of our hearts. For the intellect of our minds and the well of our emotions though of great value on their own, alone, can and often do lead us off the path of our deepest hearts yearnings and desires into a wilderness of confusion, illusion, and other peoples truths. Each day we are bombarded with a plethora of information to sort and assimilate. Each day we feel the rise and fall of sensations of joy, loss, discontent, pure harmony and more. Each day is another endless opportunity to “get it right”, following the misleading guidance of our minds that there is a rational explanation for all of it and a perfect course of information to follow.

Negotiating and navigating the mind-stuff can subdue the sensations of our emotional bodies and often provide a safe haven of ignorance where we learn to intellectualize ourselves out of feeling, yet can also set us greatly off course of our own hearts truths. To un-condition the heart is to un-condition the mind of its belief in its necessity to keep the self from feeling. It is to permit ourselves to feel deeply and truly how we feel, not why we feel, and integrate those feelings into a what logic of personal truth for our own future actions. To be set off course by the mind is equivalent to a plane flying in turbulence, it does not mean that the final destination cannot be reached, it just means that we are asked to adjust the route to our destination.  Not why am I not getting there, but rather, what is my next best course of action?

Letting the waves of our emotions rise and fall without judgment while choosing actively our course of action so that we may find our way to our hearts most buoyant destination, no matter if it is logical or not, this is trusting our inner navigational system. Being present in the face of our fears in the pursuit of our heart songs is being present in the company of the creative spirit that breathes us all. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “What lies behind us and what lies before us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”

And what lies within blooms every spring with hopes of giving fruit every autumn no matter the potential for frost.

With Love, Always, in All Ways, For Giving,
